Greater Houston Pickleball Mission
Greater Houston Pickleball, your organization, represents pickleball and the growing number of players in the greater Houston area. We are here to grow the game of pickleball for the health and well-being of our members, through competition, social interaction and improving neighborhoods with additional pickleball facilities. We will represent the Greater Houston pickleball community in discussions with governmental bodies and private facilities.
What is Pickball?
Pickleball is a paddleball sport that combines elements of badminton, table tennis, and tennis. Singles or doubles players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, much like a wiffle ball, over a net. The court is the same size as a badminton court with a net a little lower than a tennis net. Rules of play are similar to tennis but with several unique differences like serves are not tossed but hit with an underhand motion and there is a No Volley Zone seven feet around the net.
It is an easy sport to learn, fun for all ages and exciting to play the first time you pick up a paddle.
